Promote Your Business with Tourism Nova Scotia

Tourism Nova Scotia works with eligible tourism businesses, organizations, and communities to showcase the variety of things to do and places to visit while on vacation in Nova Scotia. Our goal is to inspire visitors to book a trip to Nova Scotia and connect them directly with businesses to close the sale.

See Eligibility Criteria for TNS Marketing Programs

Take advantage of the variety of promotional opportunities outlined below.

Free Business Listings

Create a free listing for your business to let travellers know what you offer and how to book with you. Nova Scotia tourism businesses may be eligible for free business listings on our trip planning website, NovaScotia.com, or in the Doers & Dreamers Guide.

To apply for a free business listing for both NovaScotia.com and the travel guide, please complete the appropriate form below. You must print and sign the form. Forms can be returned by mail or scanned and submitted by e-mail to stephanie.wadden@novascotia.ca .

If you have questions about creating or updating your listings, contact Stephanie Wadden, Digital Marketing Coordinator, at stephanie.wadden@novascotia.ca.

Free Package, Experience & Event Listings

In addition to business listings, we offer free listings on NovaScotia.com for:

  • Travel packages
  • Tourism experiences
  • Events

Any packages, experiences, or events you post will be linked to your business listing. Remember that many visitors begin planning their trip well in advance, so update your listings each year as soon as possible.

Check the eligibility criteria for listings. To apply for a free listing and/or to update an existing listing for your package, experience or event, please email information to tnsportal@novascotia.ca.

If you have questions about creating or updating your listings, contact Stephanie Wadden, Digital Marketing Coordinator, at stephanie.wadden@novascotia.ca.

Visitor Information Centres

Visitor information centres (VICs) offer trip planning advice to visitors looking for local knowledge. Keep VIC staff up-to-date about what your business offers including packages, specials, events, and services. Display your brochures to catch the attention of visitors who are planning their trip.

Provincial VICs

Tourism Nova Scotia operates five provincial VICs throughout the province: Amherst, the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Peggy’s Cove, Port Hastings, and Yarmouth. We also operate a tourism contact centre to offer trip planning services by phone or e-mail.

Our visitor services team provides expert knowledge and friendly, personalized service to help visitors have a memorable experience in Nova Scotia. This includes providing directions and information, creating itineraries, and making recommendations on products and services.

See Contact Us for provincial VIC contact information and hours of operation.

Community VICs

Organizations throughout Nova Scotia operate visitor information centres in their communities. While Tourism Nova Scotia does not manage these centres, we do provide financial support to eligible centres through our Community VIC Funding Program which is administered by several industry partners.

See a list of community VICs.  This list is updated each spring. We recommend that you contact the community VICs directly to discuss opportunities to promote your business, as their requirements may vary.

Social Media

Use the hashtag #VisitNovaScotia or tag our accounts for the opportunity to have your content featured on Tourism Nova Scotia’s social media channels. If you have content that is getting a lot of engagement that you want to share with us, you call also send us a direct message on any of our channels.

Tourism Nova Scotia shares engaging photos, videos, and articles showcasing Nova Scotia across a variety of consumer-facing social media channels, including FacebookInstagramTwitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Our goal on social media is to raise awareness of all the incredible things Nova Scotia offers visitors. In addition to our own content, we also share content from social media users and our industry partners. We use content posted by partners on our social media channels, and in the photo galleries displayed on NovaScotia.com.

We look for engaging photos and content that resonates with our target travellers, and provides useful information that can help inspire people to book a trip.

We also encourage you to tag Destination Canada, Canada’s tourism marketing organization, in your photo posts by using @ExploreCanada and #ExploreCanada.

Paid Advertising Opportunities

Visitor Information Centre Digital Screen Advertisements

Digital screen advertising in our provincial visitor information centres provides an opportunity to reach visitors while they are in the mindset to make purchase decisions. Video recordings are played in an eight-minute loop on large (42-inch) LCD televisions, placed in premium viewing spots in all six provincial VICs.  You provide your logo and the information you want to share, and Synergy Screens Digital Signage assists with designing the ad.

Please see the 2020 Media Kit for details.

For more information about the VIC digital screen advertising opportunities, please contact Mark Simmons, Synergy Screens Digital Signage, at (902) 314-9449 or email mark@synergyscreens.com.
